Why Dale does what he does

The Australia Moment

In 1992, I was sitting around a lunch table in Australia with a group of colleagues. We were making "stupid money" in bonuses. The government had just announced they were going to start taxing benefits we had been enjoying for years. This amounted to a couple of percent on the bonus we were getting, yet everyone was complaining — and I was as vocal as any of them.

Then out of my mouth came these words:

"This is just a job — not a career."

The moment I said it, something shifted in me. I did not want a job. I did not even want just a career. I wanted something bigger — a God-given, God-sized, God-inspired, God-energized purpose.

That single moment at a lunch table in Australia launched a 30-year journey that eventually led to everything you see here.

The Journey

The Technology Career

Before I became a coach, I spent 48 years building real business credentials.

It started with a computer science degree in 1975 and grew through cutting-edge IT companies, 10 years living and working in Australia, and eventually becoming Second in Command at a tech startup that hit #10 on Entrepreneur Magazine's Hot 100 Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S. Later, as Director at a computer consulting firm, I helped win and build a managed services contract that ran for more than 15 years.

I learned what it takes to build a business that works. I also learned that a successful career and a meaningful calling are two very different things.

Finding the Calling

In 2011, through a series of what I can only describe as God-incidences, I discovered Christian Life Coaching. I began training, earned my first certification, and got my first paying client.

Something came alive in me that had never fully awakened before. Watching someone's eyes light up when a new idea took hold — seeing their light bulb turn on — became the thing I looked forward to more than anything else in my professional life.

I knew I had found my calling. I just did not know yet what God was about to put me through to prepare me for it.

The Difficult Decade

The years that followed were the hardest of my life. And the most growth.

Between 2012 and 2021, I walked through a divorce, significant professional challenges, financial strain, and seasons of deep uncertainty. I kept walking — toward God rather than away from Him — and I kept coaching through all of it.

What I will say here is this: everything I went through became fuel. The coaching I do today is deeper, more honest, and more effective because of that decade — not in spite of it.

Restoration

In 2021, God brought Kayla into my life.

Four months after we met, we married. Through Kayla I gained three adult children and four grandchildren — and a whole new dimension of what family, community, and calling look like lived out together.

With that restoration came clarity. The pieces of my journey — the technology career, the coaching training, the difficult years, the faith that held through all of it — finally came together into what is now Kingdom Business Power.

My calling is to inspire calling.
